Dr Machta recently completed a fellowship at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Australia, specialising in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), aerodigestive medicine, motility and therapeutic endoscopy, with clinical interests in IBD and endoscopy.
He has been involved in research, serving as an investigator in multiple clinical trials of biologics and small molecules and leading quality improvement projects to improve monitoring and safety. A committed educator, Dr Machta also serves on the BSPGHAN Endoscopy Working Group (UK) and the GESA Eosinophilic Oesophagitis National Guideline Writing Committee (Australia), and previously on the editorial team of Archives of Disease in Childhood.
Dr Machta’s work is uniquely informed by his experience as a former paediatric oncology patient.
